What's Cookin'!
New website! I'm almost finished with the completely overhauled website!! It's streamlined, it's sleek, and it's coming soon!

New Tutorial! Included with the new website is a brand spankin new Tutorial! Yes, GuildBoss has lots of cool stuff and, yes, it can be a little bit daunting to a new user but the Tutorial is going to make it extremely easy to get your first database up and running!

New Setup Wizard! This ties in with the tutorial and makes getting started with GuildBoss a breeze.

New Templates! As soon as I get some final data on some of the newer games I'll get some new templates posted. This includes WoW, EQ2, Guild Wars, etc..

Beta Installation and First-Time Users
If you're new to GuildBoss and you're here to give it a try for the first time then please note that you must download the Full Installation of GuildBoss (and the 1.11a patch) before installing the latest Beta! The beta executable will not work on its own.

Actually, for first-time users I'd recommend that you just stick with version 1.11a until the next full installation is released (before the end of the month!).

El Bug
There appears to be a nasty little bug in the Save As window that may corrupt your database. Please don't use the Save As menu item until the next release!!

Note that GuildBoss saves your data while you work so you don't need to explicitly save the database at any time. The only reason I even put Save As in is for you to create a backup copy of your database with a different name without having to leave the program. However, until I can fix the bug you'll need to create a copy (if you want one) the old fashioned way: Windows Explorer!

Version 1.21 Beta released
The beta appears to be going well so far but here's v1.21 Beta which has the following minor fixes:

• Fixed the "Open the new report in my default browser" checkbox in the Roster Report Wizard
• Optimized some HTML code in the "General Listing" roster report so it should generate a bit faster and end up a bit smaller in file size. The difference should be considerable with larger rosters of 100+ members. Let me know if it works okay and I'll optimize the other roster reports as well.

Please don't forget to read the readme file included in the 1.21 Beta ZIP so you know what you need to do before you start. This is especially important since there is an ActiveX file that you must manually install on your system before you can use the FTP functions. It only takes a minute so please refer to the readme!! Thanks!

Current NON-BETA version is 1.11a
This is mainly a "hotfix" release to take care of nasty bug that was introduced in v1.11 regarding ICQ paging, but I also added a new auto-backup option. The backup feature had been on my ToDo list for some time now but you can all thank Dan M. for making it finally come to fruition--he lost a big database and lots of hard work due to total file corruption. Although it happens rarely under normal circumstances, corruption is the bane of the digital database and can strike at any time and it's an incredibly frustrating experience. My apologies to Dan.

As a reminder to everyone, please use the Compact tool (under the Tools menu) to compact your database(s) periodically to minimize the possibility of total corruption!

Anyway, here's what's new in v1.11a hotfix:

• Added auto "backup" option. If enabled, a backup copy of your database will be created before it's opened. The backup copy uses the same name as the original database file but has an ".bak" extension automatically appended to it (e.g. "mydatabase.gbf.bak").
• Fixed bug (introduced in v1.11) where ICQ page recipients listing was screwed up.
• Fixed "file not found" error after generating a report with a title that included any invalid Windows filename characters (e.g. \ / * : ? | " < >).
